In dialogue, art connects with current issues in science, society and everyday life – openly, comprehensibly and surprisingly. Experts from various disciplines offer new insights into the current exhibitions and discover new perspectives together. Ideal for anyone who is curious – even without any prior knowledge.
Julius von Bismarck's work deals with the human view of nature. The exhibition title Normale Katastrophe describes the state of a society in which profound ecological and social changes are becoming the new normal. Powerful forces of nature such as lightning and fire form the focus of his work. The interaction between human activity and environmental processes provides an opportunity to examine this relationship in greater depth.
Together with cultural anthropologist Greca Meloni, we will discuss how perceptions and narratives of nature are formed and anchored in society. The starting point for the discussion will be Bismarck's photographs, video works, sculptures and installations, which impressively stage these powerful forces of nature.
